The presence of code whose only purpose is to leak secrets to AIs is a vulnerability magnet and has no utility. Even if you are using AI for production workloads, everything should be going through a proxy that holds secrets, where a user can review every action it takes; as every single product in this category says, "AI can make mistakes" and it should not be allowed to make mistakes with sensitive data. Any secret exposed to a model, at the very least, goes through the model provider and leaks your secrets into their logs. I currently have the MCP server disabled in the "labs" section of the app, but its presence there is a constant source of anxiety and makes me think of migrating to Apple's passwords app every time I see it.302Views1like5CommentsHow can I search for only part of a password in 1password.
I get notices from my security company that a password is breached. They only send a small portion of the password like ed**** or ed***g. How can I search for this in 1Passwrd. I only see the one search area and it searches everything so I get all kinds of stuff. 1Password Version: 8.10.36 Extension Version: 2.25 OS Version: 14.5 (23F79) Browser: Safari444Views1like16CommentsConstantly seeing The 1Password browser extension needed to restart
I am seeing "The 1Password browser extension needed to restart" tab appear over and over. I restarted my browser and entire machine and I still get this new tab all the time. I believe I recall this being mentioned a few months ago and it being a pretty popular request. I made a simple demo animation in hopes that this gets more traction because, code wise, it's a very simple 1-2hr implementation (although I guess there might be SOME security concerns with fetching images/svgs/favicons? but probably not many)? Also, I hope you like my beautiful art. Shoutout to DAVE TEARE and SAN JOSE MARIOTT if they're real people (or twins?) (i got the screenshot from 1P website lol).Solved152Views0likes2CommentsHandling proxy URLs (from university library)
Hi all, I am working at a university where the university library provides access to certain websites through a special proxy service. This is a common thing for universities to do, so I was a bit surprised to not see this mentioned in the support forum so far? The issue is that I often access a journal page (where i need to log in) through both the normal URL and through the special proxy URL: https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/journal-of-molecular-biology https://www-sciencedirect-com.proxy-UNI.edu/journal/journal-of-molecular-biology (where UNI = some ID for my university library) Is there a way to have 1password be a bit smart about this and recognize these URLs so that I dont have to add the proxy variant to each Login entry? (NB doing the latter also means that I am offered a huge list of login options whenever accessing a proxy URL: because now the main URL is always the same, and 1P no longer distinguishes the different sites) Anyway: any suggestions or workarounds?340Views0likes7CommentsChrome extenson pop-up pannel opening with several delay
When I click on the extension icon in the toolbar, it takes several seconds, and sometimes even minutes, for the extension panel to open. See here small clip where the panel takes 30 seconds to open: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1H7opDLsXEolSc5YNzUdBeYB-tLDLSE_W/view?usp=sharing The delay is inconsistent: Sometimes the panel opens after about 10 seconds, other times it takes 30 seconds, and occasionally it can take more than a minute! I tried switching to a different Chrome profile and reinstalling Chrome. I also tested Chrome Beta channel, and the issue occurs there as well. It works fine on Firefox, Arc and Zen browsers. This only happens in Google Chrome. I'm using Mac OS.78Views0likes1CommentCannot use 1P for passkeys in Google OICD login flow
This is a tricky one to explain but I've run into this problem a couple of times. I did not take any screenshots and subsequent repro attempts have failed because my login hits a fast path and I don't see any web UI. My Google Account has a passkey on it. When a particular Mac App (NetNewsWire) opens a browser window to initiate a Google Account login, the window has no UI other than the location bar. This is important. When I get to the screen in the GA login flow where it asks for my passkey it gives me two options to source my passkey from, neither of which allow me to pick 1P. And because there is no other browser UI in the pop-up window, there is no 1P extension icon to interact with. I tried using the 1P Quick Access app but it didn't register what was happening. I have to use another login method (secure code, backup code etc) to successfully complete the login flow. It is a process of trial-and-error and I'm concerned my activity looks suspicious and will result in an account lockout. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?79Views0likes5CommentsImproved date formatting in the 1Password desktop app
Hello 1Password Community! With the next update to the 1Password desktop app (version 8.10.80), we have improved how date formats are handled when viewing and editing an item. Leading up to this update, there has been some inconsistency with how the desktop application has handled date formats when viewing and editing items. In some cases, date formats were being determined by the display language set in 1Password whereas in other cases, date formats were being determined by the language set against the device. This has led to some users seeing different date formats within the desktop app causing confusion. With this update, we've made things consistent by ensuring that dates saved against items always appear in a format determined by the locale set against your device (both when viewing and editing items) and never by the display language set in 1Password. This way, the desktop application can support more date formats than just the ones tied to the display languages that we support. Along with the recent improvements that we made to the date picker, we are hoping that you enjoy a much improved experience with dates in the 1Password desktop application! Thank you!1.5KViews4likes29Comments
